As a child, I was crazy about dogs but was never permitted to have one. After getting married at twenty years of age, I purchased my first pet dog, a black Standard Poodle named “Nicky.” I thought Standard Poodles were the most beautiful, intelligent dogs I had ever seen. I immediately became interested in everything poodles and immersed myself in anything dog related including grooming, obedience, and conformation. The opportunity arose for me to go to my first dog show, The Westminster Kennel Club in New York. I was in awe of the experience and still cannot believe today that twenty years later my dog, Ch Whisperwind’s On A Carousel, won Best In Show at the Garden. Once I decided that conformation was my passion, I bought my first show dog from Pinafore Kennels and started showing dogs myself. After a few unsuccessful attempts at owner-handling, I purchased another puppy, my first Champion, Ch Pinafore Platinum Ice, handled by Gail Wolaniuk. The name for Whisperwind came about when I was watching the breeze blowing gently through a dog in show coat and I thought it sounded like a pretty name. I then purchased and finished my first two foundation bitches: Ch Pinafore Country Breeze, and a year later, Ch Pinafore Whisperwind Brooke. Brooke proved to be the best producer of the two and laid the foundation for my breeding program. Once I gained an eye for the type, style, and carriage that I wanted in a dog, I bred Brooke to BIS Ch Primetime Kristofer, which resulted in Peter, Ch Whisperwind’s On A Carousel and many other Champions. After some experience, I learned to handle and finish several of my own homebred dogs. I have since bred over fifty Champions at Whisperwind. The following are some of the most significant dogs in my breeding program that had successful careers and have left legacies in the pedigress of my dogs and many other dogs in the show ring today. (Ch Pinafore President x Ch Pinafore Pride N Joy Of Vodanz)
Purchased from Pinafore Kennels, Brooke was an important foundation bitch at Whisperwind. She finished her Championship easily with Group placements. She was a sparkly, bubbly, happy-go-lucky dog with a beautiful face. When bred to BIS Ch Primetime Kristofer, she produced Peter, Ch Whisperwind’s On A Carousel; Esprit, Ch Whisperwind Free Spirit; and Patrick, Ch Whisperwind Brass Band. She is the matriarch of Whisperwind. Brooke played a significant part in the direction of my breeding program. (Ch Primetime Kristofer x Ch Pinafore Whisperwind Brooke)
Winning Best In Show at Westminster in 1991, Peter was an extraordinary dog with an illustrious career. (Ch Primetime Kristofer x Ch Pinafore Whisperwind Brooke)
Esprit, Peter's full sister and littermate, finished her Championship in four shows including Westminster where she won Best of Winners with a five-point major. A gorgeous dog, she was a beloved friend and companion as a house pet at Whisperwind. (Ch Primetime Kristofer x Ch Pinafore Whisperwind Brooke)
Patrick, Peter’s younger brother, had an impressive career winning Best In Show fifteen times in three months. He has made a significant impact in the breeding of white Standard Poodles. (Ch Whisperwind's On A Carousel x Whisperwind Mischont)
Fancy, Peter's daughter, started her show career late after having her first litter. She won Third in Open Class at PCA and is the dam of many Champions. (Int Ch Maneetas Del Zarzoso Fuego Fatuo x Whisperwind Jade)
Skylar was a Top Producer, contributing a major influence to the future of white Standard Poodles. (Int Ch Maneetas Del Zarzoso Fuego Fatuo x Whisperwind Jade)
Taylor is a full brother to Skylar through a repeat breeding. He was a Specialty Best In Show winner and he won Winners Dog and Best Of Winners at PCA in 1996. Taylor is owned by Nancy McGee, Paradigm. (Int Ch Maneetas Del Zarzoso Fuego Fatuo x Whisperwind Jade)
Bred at Whisperwind, Kelly is a full littermate to Taylor. She is owned by Nancy McGee, Paradigm. Kelly finished her Championship as a puppy and went Best In Show from the Puppy Class.
